Lagan College iBook Server
Rather than publishing all of our staff's iBooks on the public iBook store, we have created our own private 'Lagan College iBook Server' which can be accessed by any staff member or student whilst they are in the school.

Once you download a book from the server, it will stay on your iPad and can be read from home.

Here's how to set up the iBook Server on your iPad and a student's iPad:

Step 1: Add the iBook Server

  • Open your Settings

  • On the Left side, tap on Mail, Contacts, Calendars

  • On the Right side, tap on Add Account

  • Tap Other

  • Tap Add OS X Server Account

Note: If you don’t see this option at the bottom, then you need to update your iPad's software. Open your Settings and tap on General on the left side, then Software Update and follow the instructions to update your iPad.

  • Tap DHCP’s Mac mini

  • Type the word ‘student’ into both the Username and Password, then tap Next

  • When it says Cannot Verify Server Identify, tap Continue

  • Finally, tap Save

Step 2: Download Cloud Pro

  • Open the App Store

  • At the bottom, tap on Purchased (1)

  • At the top, tap on Not on This iPad (2)

  • Type the word Cloud into the search bar on the top left (3).

  • If you see Cloud Pro, tap on Free and Install.

If you can’t see Cloud Pro, check your emails for an email called ‘Cisco VPP’. Open the email and tap on the link inside it. Follow the instructions, then try searching for Cloud Pro in the App Store again.

If you are still having issues finding Cloud Pro, please bring your iPad to the ICT Technicians in the Reprographics office during Lunch.

Step 3: Downloading an iBook

  • Open Cloud Pro

  • Tap Locations on the top left

  • Tap OS X Server

  • Tap on a folder - e.g. Revision Guide

  • Tap on a book - e.g. Year 9 - Christmas Exams Revision Guide

  • When the book has finished downloading, tap the Share icon on the top right

  • Tap Copy to iBooks

We’ve found that most times the book might not appear the first time, and you often have to go back to Cloud Pro and tap Copy to iBooks a second time.

Your iBook should now appear in your iBook Library!
